i came across this movie on the sundance channel, and upon having a nasty cold that appeared last night and raged into today (of course, sunday my day off) i decided to just cuddle up with blankets and my channel changer.
"Heath Ledger stars as Dan, a charming but reckless young poet who falls in love with Candy (Abbie Cornish), a beautiful young student who is attracted to his bohemian lifestyle. In order to get closer to Dan, Candy joins him in his drug addiction. Their passionate relationship then alternates between bursts of ecstatic oblivion and bouts of despair and self-destruction. Hooked as much on heroin as one another, their story becomes an intense love triangle -- a boy, a girl and a drug."
---
such a beautiful beautiful movie. without a doubt the best "love story" as unconventional as a drug addiction to the story line can be i suppose. abbie cornish is stunning, effortlessly haunting (and okay heath ledger isn't that bad in it either.) right after "candy" was on the movie "somersault" (also starring cornish) came on. somersault is directed by another aussie and i've come to love their accents more than the french and english (sorry hannah i still love you)
"After making a misjudged advance towards her mother's boyfriend, 16-year-old Heidi (Abbie Cornish) flees her home for the small Australian ski town of Jindabyne. Entranced by the startling beauty of the wintry landscapes and falling snow, she begins to create a new life for herself. With little money or practical experience, she accepts a job at a petrol station and finds lodging with Irene (Lynette Curran). When she falls for Joe (Sam Worthington), the son of a wealthy local farmer, her self-destructive tendencies re-surface, and her fragile new world threatens to come tumbling down. An erotic, lyrical depiction of a young girl's sexual awakening, SOMERSAULT is a breakthrough debut for both its director and its star."
both of these movies are new favorites, the soundtracks are also very pretty. relaxing, perfect for fall/ (is it really almost winter?) driving.
back to the grind - or er the couch. there's "A HAUNTING" marathon on discovery channel.

He’s not very South Street
i can't stop reading frank'o hara poetry, eating wheat and blueberry waffles, drinking a unnecessary amount of orange juice, and somehow i've started to watch a good a mount of television? it may have to do with the big beautiful bed located right in front of the big not so beautiful television...
now dr. phil is on and although i do not approve of this i'm too tired from work and a four hour ethics class to even move. it's a wonder my finger muscles are even working.. today there was a good amount of rain/ my windshield is so dirty.
there is a list of a million things i need to do, starting with "save money for a rainy day" like today, "stop buying fashion magazines, nail polish and you already have too many packs of gum, don't buy any purses either" i'm the prime example of an emotional buyer. also a great example of a person who works and has very little to show for it.
i think a lot of it is the angsty 18 year old material side hanging on, while the mature sophisticated miss moreno keeps saying "you need to be more responsible!" visions of myself floating in a candy-paint convertible with money flying out from behind me, rich as the day i was born! then reality hits, i look into my wallet to pay for my gas and i realize that stack of $20's that was there upon pay day is now stifling down to a stack of $10's, now $5's .. oh god we're in the $1 zone.
better luck next pay check!

I could make a statement based on truth
LIMITED EDITIONS ARE ++++

a STAPLE in my refrigerator, and a newbie to my morning routine. i'm never much for creamer - usually low fat milk, or black coffee (i know i'm pretty square) but when i see anything with "limited edition" and "fall harvest" in one sentence i can't help but check it out. delicious! there are also a few other flavors i'm yet to explore - i think i'll stick to pumpkin pie spice, perhaps venture to the gingerbread creamer come xmas.

also lets please talk about pumpkin spice cupcakes with cream cheese icing! my nana found these heavenly-goodies being sold at the Bings Bakery in newark,de but i'm sure there are plenty bakeries near you that offer these, but i can't promise they'll bring the heat the way Bingzz does.

"pumpkin pie à la mode. Perfect alone, but better together! for the most tantalizing lip experience ever" i woudln't go that far but this 2-in-1 bath & body lipgloss is delicious and smells spicey - like a nice slice of pumpkin bread.

i practically BEGGED my not-so little brother who is 16 (soon to be 17 next week) to go pumpkin picking with me but he abruptly refused. LUCKILY my manly-man of a boyfriend is coming to visit this weekend! so after a saturday morning dedicated to under-the covers and orange juice in bed, we'll go pumpkin picking. he doesn't know about this yet, but we will. and maybe i'll even get some gourds.
i wish i could just live in a place where it was fall all the time, and don't even get me started on how wonderful the limited edition items around the christmas season are!

no meat here

9 days and counting.. don't worry i'm not going to go all "GO PETA"
"GO ANIMAL RIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
never
i've had a total of three dreams within the past week all of me eating meat. greasy chicken wings, bacon cheeseburgers the size of my entire face. the funny part is i never eat chicken wings, and i would eat a cheeseburger MAYBE once a month.
my mom made a bet with her boyfriend how long i'll last, she even tempted me with her famous chicken and dumplings - but alas i am painfully stubborn and i made a decision so i'm going to stick to it. it's just a little tricky having to find new foods, i've been eating a lot of veggies and apples with peanut butter. i'm taking tons of vitamins and i must admit it's a little fun seeing everyday as a bit of a challenge..
and hell if masta' can do it, so can i. but please i beg of you subconscious mind NO MORE DREAMS ABOUT MEAT.

work ethnic

founded the summer before i started 5th grade. the summer we moved from living on main street to the farm house on beaston. the summer my brothers FINALLY let me play street hockey. the summer my youngest brother tripped me with his hockey stick causing me to fall into a parked car... the summer i started working for my mom, thinking she was the coolest person in the world for owning her very own dog grooming shop.
that was almost 10 years ago. going through endless not so successful dead end retail jobs i've fallen back into working at the same place i used to terrorize when i was a little girl. having a family business is really irritating sometimes, i can never call in sick days, my mom and i constantly disagree - but at the end of the day it serves its purpose. making me good money and keeping me occupied until i finish school. i'll graduate college this year with my associates in human services. so yes, i want to work with humans not animals. but one thing my mom and i have in common is our love for animals.
anyway before i go all sappy on you guys, i'll start with the major point of this update. i decided to cease the opportunity of owning a brand new camera to take a mini-tour around the place that started off as a little idea and ended up being the reason why my brothers and i ever had christmas.
THE LOBBY

or as we like to pretend the "sitting area" for clients. although nobody ever sits in that room - the shop used to be an old green house so it's very hot in the front room. you can see my little red car parked out front and to the left are some pictures i've been meaning to hang..
THE SHOP

or "grooming area" it's an odd little building but it works. it's full of mirrors and counters, there are two grooming tables, tons of cages (empty because it was 7 in the morning) and a huge bath tub where i wash all the pupps n purrs that come in

kitty kitty

pitbull mix puppy

i found this wedged between the door this morning when i opened up the shop, a woman wanting to reschedule her dogs appointment

the calender and the book, both are full until the end of october, my handwriting is something horrible, i'm constantly on the phone having to scribble down appointments

lunchtime reading material!

1. hydrogen peroxide, used for cleaning out dogs ears
2. a product called "quick stop" applied to a dogs nail in case you cut it too short
3. a metal comb, that hurts like hell if you accidentally hit your fingers on it
4. a dirty tooth brush used for cleaning out the hair that clogs up the clippers
5. nail filer for dogs nails
6. electric clippers
7. steel scissors
8. creepy doggy perfume
9. nail clippers
(not numbered - the weird surgical looking device next to the electric clippers is used to sharpen the scissors.)

and a washed out- got rained on - splashed on - very sleepy - exhausted looking me. note : the little dog in the background is mine, i bring him to work because he's a poodle and has separation anxiety (aka i have mothers guilt for leaving him alone at home all day.)
so that's a little idea of my life, not very exciting but it beats ringing up endless items at walgreens, or making snobby socker moms fat free low fat nothing but cucumbers on bread subs at subway. it's nice working with my mom and animals really make me happy simply because i never have to worry about my appearance, dogs like you just the same.
